Five Really Good Business Reasons to Convert to a WordPress Website

By christy

At MOD Internet Marketing, we love beautiful websites — but unless your business depends on image, just having an ugly website isn’t usually  a good enough business reason to go through the time and expense of a whole website redesign.

It’s a problem many small businesses face. While looks are important when it comes to marketing, what you really need is a website that saves you time, builds trust, and gets seen by customers. And that’s where the beauty of WordPress really shines.

Really Good Business Reason #1: Easy Updating

Nothing makes a potential customer more suspicious of a company than a site that has it’s “latest news” as happening in 2008.  Or how about that “Fall Special” that expired six months ago? With many traditional websites, updating news and specials was cumbersome, or required you to pay a programmer big bucks for every little change. No wonder so many business owners just gave up.  WordPress websites can be set up so that changes like this are as easy as typing them into a Word document. And since time=money, your business can be professional and up-to-date all the time, with no programmer required.

Really Good Business Reason #2: Affordability

Another cool thing about WordPress sites is that there are literally thousands of custom programs (called plug-ins) that you can add to your website, and most of them are free. Need to add a contact form? Click a few buttons. Tie your blog to your Facebook page? Easy! Show a photo gallery of your work? No problem.  In the past, these features may have required hours of custom programming and weeks of customization. With WordPress, there are tons of cool features that can make your site look as sleek and professional as the big dogs, only much faster and cheaper.

Really Good Business Reason #3: Visibility

Not showing up on Google? If your business is nowhere to be found, your underlying site design may be the problem.  Google likes text, and Google likes fresh content. WordPress is an ideal platform for getting your content to be more accessible and delicious to search engines. A  full search engine visibility program is a bit more complex than that, but WordPress is a great place to start.

Really Good Business Reason #4: Sharp and Stylish Design

OK, we know we said that having an ugly website isn’t the only reason to redesign.  But in our web-based world, if you compare your customer’s online experience on a cumbersome, annoying site that makes life difficult for them with a clean, easy-to-navigate, friendly site, you are more likely to get, and keep, your customer.  WordPress has tons of templates available that make good design easy and accessible — and using a template, you can get a feel for what your new site will look like before you even get started.

Really Good Business Reason #5: Mobile Devices

You may have noticed that the web world is going mobile.  iPhones, iPads, Android and Google devices are all becoming integral business and personal tools.  Customers will whip out an iPhone to find directions, vital information and recommendations from wherever they are. Have you checked to see what your website looks like on these devices? If you have an older site, you may be shocked and dismayed at how it renders. WordPress sites look great on mobile devices, and even if you don’t convert your entire site, you can use WordPress tools to help your existing site display better. Meeting your customers where they are is always a smart business strategy.

So what are you waiting for?
